Posted by Alistair Ward on 3rd Jul 2019

Fridge freezers are now available in a range of widths and heights to suit almost any space. The standard width of a fridge freezer is 600mm – 700mm though you can get slimmer versions for compact kitchens and wider fridges for large family homes.

Before you buy a new fridge freezer, take a look at our Fridge Freezer Buying Guide . It tells you everything you need to know about fridge freezers. It covers the different models available, split options and energy saving technology to help you make the right choice.

Compact fridge freezers

If you live in an apartment, mobile home or you are short of space, compact fridge freezers are a great choice. Available in 470mm – 550mm and 550mm – 600mm sizes, these fridge freezers are specially designed to maximise the amount of internal food storage space. Before you buy, it is worth thinking about the amount of freezer space you need as some compact fridge freezers have larger freezer compartments than others.

The Caple RBR8 Built Under Larder Fridge With Ice Box has an excellent A+ energy rating. It features 1 glass shelf, 2 crisper drawers, 2 plastic door storage compartments, 1 egg tray and 1 ice cube tray. The fridge capacity is 98 litre plus you also get an additional 17 litre ice box which is the ideal size for storing essentials such as frozen veg and ice creams! It is designed to fit under your worktop with a furniture door attached the create a tidy, seamless finish to your kicthen.

Standard Fridge Freezers

Standard fridge freezers are 600mm – 700mm in size.  You’ll find a wider choice of internal design options in this size of fridge freezer, allowing you plenty of scope to choose the right appliance for your lifestyle.

Large Fridge Freezers

Large fridge freezers are usually 700mm – 900mm and are a great option if you need more food storage space but don’t want to buy an American fridge.  Many large fridge freezers will include water and ice dispensers, so you’ll need to ensure you can plumb in the appliance correctly.

The Gorenje ORK193, Freestanding Retro Fridge Freezer has a 70/30 split meaning the fridge compartment is larger than the freezer, making it an ideal appliance choice for busy families. One thing to note, retro fridge freezers are not a standard size due to the thickness of the door, plus the handle, as shown on the dimensional drawing above. Always make sure you check the dimensions of the product then make sure you have sufficient space before you commit to buy!

It may look retro from the outside but this fantastic fridge freezer features special technology that can monitor your daily routine. It keeps track of when the fridge is used the most. By anticipating this, the unit will reduce the temperature of the fridge freezer by one or two degrees to counterbalance the door being opened! With a fridge capacity of 229 litres and a freezer capacity of 97 litres there is plenty of space for all your essentials. We love the fact this fridge freezer is available in many colour options too, including olive, copper and fiery red to name just a few!

American Fridge Freezers

American fridge freezers are the largest style of appliance you can buy at 900mm – 925mm.  They offer fantastic food storage space and usually include water and ice dispensers so you’ll need to ensure it can be connected to your water supply. Because the freezer unit stands next to the fridge unit, rather than above or below it, they’re often referred to as side-by-side fridge freezers.

If you're looking to create the wow factor in your kitchen then look no further! The Caple CAFF42 French Door Fridge Freezer is packed full of amazing features and the stylish aesthetic will look great in any large kitchen.
