The Best Smartwatches For Slimmer Wrists.

Posted by Lorraine on 13th Feb 2023

Do you have slim wrists and struggle to find a smartwatch that fits? We've found three smartwatches that are stylish, not too bulky and perfect for modern lifestyles. We compare the Garmin Lily, Garmin Vivoactive 4S and Garmin Venu 2S smartwatches in detail so you can choose which one suits you best!

Smartwatches are packed with tech and, despite their smaller design, the Lily, Vivoactive 4S and Venu 2S are no exception. They offer a whole array of daily smart and health monitoring features just in a more compact style.

Each model features Garmin Body Battery which is designed to monitor your energy levels. Daily activity, sleep metrics, stress, breathing and heart rate data is collected throughout the day. Once these metrics are captured, 'Body Battery' will determine the best time for you to rest and exercise on a daily basis.

Read on to see how each of these slim smartwatches from Garmin compare. We talk about the difference in size, style and functions.

Garmin Lily - Small, fashionable smartwatch made for daily wear.

The Garmin Lily is the slimmest and most lightweight of the three. Many refer to the Garmin Lily as the Smartwatch for women. It has been carefully designed with women in mind with daintier features and a stylish patterned, TFT LCD metallic lens. The Lily it is more akin to an attractive bracelet than the usual smartwatch style we are used to. We love the fact it comes in a variety of colour options too.

You can buy it with a silicone strap for sporty look or for a more classic style you can opt for a leather strap. Both are available in three choices of colour ranging from neutral golden tones through to deeper purples.

Whether you’re off for a yoga session or popping out for a lovely meal, the Garmin Lily can be styled to suit every occasion. Extra straps can be bought separately meaning you can change the look whenever you please.

The Lily doesn't have any physical buttons on the watch. With minimalism in mind, Garmin have created a small capacitive touch screen button on the bottom of the watch face which enables you to navigate through the menus.

If you're keen to track routes when out running or walking you will need to connect your Lily watch to your phone as it does not include built in GPS. It cannot track floors climbed either as it does not feature an altimeter. For some, the lack of GPS and an altimeter won't be an issue but it's something to consider before choosing a model to suit your lifestyle.

With an incredibly small 34mm watch case and a slim, 14mm strap, you will barely know you are wearing it. It is so comfortable which is a big plus point if you plan to keep it on while you sleep; which you should as it tracks sleep patterns and more!

Garmin Vivofit 4S - Smaller sized smartwatch with GPS, built to help you reach your health and fitness goals.

The Garmin Vivofit 4S is a great smart watch for those looking to keep track on their health and fitness without the need to wear a big, bulky watch. At just 18mm wide, this strap is the second thinnest available within the Garmin collection.

For those hoping to improve fitness we particularly love the animated guided workouts available on the Vivofit 4S. Simply press the top, side button on the bezel to open sports mode from the watch. With a swipe up on the touch screen, a list of workout options are revealed.

You can then select your preferred mode of fitness. For example, Yoga reveals a number of different workout routines including 'improve flexibility', 'sun salutations' or 'wake up and energise!' Once you begin a workout, an animation along with guidance tips appear onscreen providing help on how to perform the exercise. You can change the interval time on your watch to suit your fitness level too.

The workout options include treadmill, cardio, strength mode, pilates, golf, cycling and more. There are 23 pre loaded sports apps to chose from. Once set up in the Garmin Connect app, you can download more workouts, create training plans and set goals to keep you motivated.

If you enjoy listening to music whilst out and about there is no need to carry additional tech. You can listen to your favourite music or podcasts, though wireless headphones via the 4S. Simply download songs to your watch from third party music services such as Spotify or Amazon Music. (subscription required) This can be done in the Garmin Connect app.

Other handy features include menstrual cycle tracking and pregnancy tracking. You can log symptoms and, over time, Garmin will provide information and nutritional advice based on your cycle phase to help you through those tiring days.

Garmin Venu 2S - GPS Smartwatch built for active lifestyles

The Venu 2S is a smaller sized GPS smartwatch and an upgrade on the very popular Garmin Venu . The Garmin Venu 2S includes improved sleep tracking, better battery life, built in HIIT workouts and a new fitness age feature.

Well balanced proportions ensure it doesn't look too big on slimmer wrists and can be enjoyed by both men and women. With a 40mm wide watch housing, the Venu 2S model is designed for slimmer wrists. You can see all the size comparisons of the three models in the table at the end of the blog.

The Garmin Venu 2S is the only one out of the three that features an AMOLED touchscreen. Colours are sharp and vivid and it’s easy to read in any lighting, even when the sun is beating down!

Like the Vivofit 4S, the Venu 2S features a reliable GPS tracker and a built in barometric altimeter. It is capable of tracking your activity and elevation accurately through numerous terrains. To keep safe during outdoor activities it is possible to send live location updates to loved ones in your contacts. You must pair your watch and phone to do this. This can be done manually or automatically with built-in incident detection.

Whether you're out for a stroll, training for a marathon or doing a round of golf, the Venu 2S is capable of capturing every move. This multi sport tracker features more than 25 preloaded GPS and indoor sports apps. Activities include cycling, swimming, running and pilates to name a few. Activity profiles for indoor climbing, bouldering and hiking are also great new features on the Venu 2S.

With easy to follow, animated on-screen workouts and a HIIT workout activity profile this watch is built for fitness enthusiasts or, those wishing to lead a healthier, more active lifestyle with a little motivational encouragement along the way! The new HIIT workout profile allows different timers to be triggered so you can set the number of rounds, work and rest intervals and more.

It can capture blood oxygen levels during exercise (Pulse Ox Sensor), track heart rate and more to create a full picture of your overall health. A new fitness age feature estimates the body’s age using chronological age, activity, resting heart rate and BMI. It processes all the data and will provide tips of how to lower your fitness age.

With stress tracking, respiration tracking and mindful breathing you can take time out to perform breathwork activities with your Venu 2S watch. This will help to keep you focused and relaxed during stressful moments.

It features a comfortable silicone strap which is available in a versatile range of colour options ranging from darker graphite, through to light sand, misty grey and white. Silver, light gold, rose gold or slate stainless steel bezels create a stylish finish.
