3 Common Mistakes When Buying A Tap

When designing a new kitchen many will first think of the larger appliances such as Ovens, Hobs, Sinks and Cooker Hoods. After speaking with many customers over the past few months we’ve noticed that the Kitchen Tap, often the most used tool in any kitchen, is last in people’s considerations. Choosing the tap as an afterthought rather than as a main feature can lead to the wrong tap being bought, causing more hassle and stress. We’ve put together a list of common mistakes made by our customers that have returned taps. Check them out so you don’t waste time.

1. Dimensions

Always check the dimensions of the tap. Height, width and the reach of a tap will differ from tap to tap, design to design and with it the performance and look in the kitchen will be affected. Professional Coil taps are often much larger than your standard tap and will stand out in any kitchen. Check the dimensions and ensure your chosen tap will fit perfectly in your kitchen.

2. Water Pressure

Getting the correct Water Pressure is essential when choosing the correct tap. Get your plumber to calculate the Water Pressure to ensure your tap is able to work on your water system. If you choose a tap that requires a minimum bar pressure higher than your water system produces, you won’t be able to use the tap to it’s maximum performance.

3. Colour & Design

Although this may sound like a simple thing to get right, it is worth checking that the colour and design of the tap. If all your kitchen appliances and your sink are Stainless Steel, do you really want a chrome tap? Choose the design that best suits your needs as well. A Professional Coil Tap is fantastic for your demanding dishes whilst a Bridge and Belfast tap can add a touch of elegance to a traditional style kitchen.

If you choose your tap using these three criteria you’ll choose the right tap for you and your kitchen
